Chaminda Gamage began to show an interest in paintings from his childhood. From the early 90's he began to been recognized as an upcoming artist in the arts arena. Since then, his dedication has seen him receive numerous awards, one being the State Award for the Most Outstanding Painter of Year (1996).
Apart from hosting his own solo exhibitions, his work has been featured at number of local and international exhibitions, art residencies and in workshops.
Chaminda is a founder member of Colombo Artists? a well recognized meeting point of artists in Sri Lanka.
Chaminda has also armed himself with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree (B.F.A. Painting) from the Institute of Aesthetic Studies, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka in 2000 and topped it with a Master of Arts (M.A. in Mass Communication) Degree from the University of Kelaniya Sri Lanka in 2004. He was educated at Ananda College, Colombo and hails from the 1989 batch.
