‘Power’ is a three-channel video projection relating to the idea of power – the power of history and the past, military power, the power of nature, of individuals, of institutions and the power of images that come together and spark off each other. All these forces go through time, come from the past, appear in the present and reach towards the future. It constantly talks to us and refers back to myth, calls upon our imagination and fantasies. This installation is best summed up by something Osho Rajneesh once said; ‘Drop the idea of becoming someone, because you are already a masterpiece. You cannot be improved. You have only to come to it, to know it, to realize it’.

Vimukthi Jayasundara began his cinematic career as a Journalist, Film Critic and Screenwriter. He attended the Institute for Film and Television in Pune, India.  He was awarded the Best Director award for his short film ‘Empty for Love’ at the Novo Mesto International Short Film festival – Slovenia in 2003. In 2005 he directed his first feature, The Forsaken Land. It won the 2005 Cannes Film Festival Camera d’Or. He was the first Sri Lankan to win the prestigious award.

Its like you read my mind! You seem to know so much about this, like you wrote the book in it or something. I think that you could do with a few pics to drive the message home a bit, but instead of that, this is great blog. A great read. I will definitely be back.|
